PRISMA acknowledgement and references

prisma-flow is an independent Python implementation for producing PRISMA-style flow diagrams. It is not the PRISMA reporting guideline itself and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the PRISMA Executive.

What PRISMA is

PRISMA stands for Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses. The official PRISMA website describes PRISMA as a reporting guideline intended to improve reporting of systematic reviews and to guide authors in reporting why a review was done, what methods were used, and what results were found.

The current main guideline is PRISMA 2020. It includes the statement paper, checklists, and template flow diagrams for original and updated reviews.

Acknowledgement

The PRISMA 2020 reporting guideline, checklist, and flow diagram templates were developed by the PRISMA 2020 authors and are maintained through the PRISMA Executive. prisma-flow acknowledges that work and aims only to provide a Python implementation for generating diagrams and validating count relationships in software workflows.

When using prisma-flow outputs in reports, manuscripts, presentations, or software documentation, cite the original PRISMA 2020 publications as the source of the reporting guideline.

It is also appropriate to cite prisma-flow as the software used to generate the diagrams or serialized flow data. The two citations serve different purposes: PRISMA should be cited for the reporting guideline, and prisma-flow may be cited for the software implementation.

Citing prisma-flow

If prisma-flow helps produce figures, outputs, or data files used in your work, please cite the version of the software you used. Citation metadata is available in the repository CITATION.cff.

Suggested wording:

PRISMA flow diagrams were generated with prisma-flow and reported according to
the PRISMA 2020 statement.
